Sue was born on February 4, 1954 to the late Aubrey Doyle Gartman and Jessie Faye Pendleton Gartman. Sue was raised in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School. She then went to Baylor and obtained her BBA from the Hankamer School of Business in 1976.
